    01. Picking Topic

Our team wanted to find an app genre that is ubiquitous in our society. We wanted to design a UI that could potentially improve the quality of life when using this app for daily tasks. So we defined a problem that is present in the generic fitness app on mobile devices specifically for young, working adults that primarily do at-home workouts.

    03. Ideation

Moving to the next stage in the design process, we created personas and storyboards that would portray the scenarios that our demographic would be from. Personas were also drafted in order to give us an idea of the end users we are looking to get this app to.

    05. Feedback + Changes

For our interim critiquing session with other designers, we found that our previous color palette was too catered towards the early adult female demographic. Since this was an app intended for all genders, we reiterated our design of the mood board for a more unisex fit. Our logo reflects that and the navigation bar icons were made to match.

    02. Secondary Research

We conducted Secondary User Research.

This was done through joining real forums online and finding groups of people to interview over Zoom or in-person. We asked them a series of non-biased questions aimed for getting as much feedback on the difficulties with staying fit and what their primary motivations for starting and staying consistent were.

    04. Lo-Fidelity Prototype

After getting our game plan brainstormed, we got to our first draft of the UI. Keeping in mind of our research findings, we designed pages that kept motivation from 3 primary sources:

Community, Gamification, Setting Goals.

The landing pages of each tab is shown below with our concepts of trying to achieve these design features.

One aspect that is unique from most social forum platforms is the community progress bar. This format allows users that don't usually post in the forum to implicitly participate in the group and keep it alive and active. Members of a friend group can keep each other accountable and motivated without blaring their progress to all other members at once.

Mood boards were also created to draft a color palette for our app UI.

    06. Hi-Fidelity Prototype

This is the final iteration of the design. Our UI aimed to maximize ease of access to beginners to working out and remain a quintessential tool to experts in the field. This was done by creating shortcuts to common tasks and streamlining workout creation. For experts, workout routines remained flexible and open to customization

The forum page offered live tracking of progress from members of a community the user is in, or just some close friends with the option to hide their own progress. This tab is equipped with full chat functionality.

Profiles in this app have a main spider plot that gives the user a glanceable digest of another profile. This promotes connections with people of the same coverage and specializations without needing to read through dense statistics and text. The progress bar and video point system incorporates a "game-like" aspect that keeps the user motivated and entertained at the same time.
